Brother is a new media channel on Snapchat's discovery feature, targeted at the millennial generation.
 

In collaboration with Pentagram, I developed and animated the motion language for the new Brother brand and presence on the Snapchat app.

As the look and feel of the brand was taking shape, I developed the motion language to integrate and enhance the brand's core aspects.
 

Following Snapchat's limiting guidelines, we focused on developing a channel that was not only visually differentiating from other available channels, but one that would also would bring a fresh and fun experience to the platform.

As Brother is intended to feature several types of media content, from footage to graphics and text, we created a dynamic modular system that allows a practical and easy way of adding and transitioning between content.

Created in After Effects, a master template was delivered to Brother's in-house animators to use.

This template helped to ensure the integrity of the content would not be distorted or destroyed, by automatically adjusting the content format, keeping the correct margins and spacing, font sizes and also ensuring the motion for every transition was the same throughout.

GRAPHICAL ASSETS

As Brother was launching, they needed as much content as possible so they could to populate their feed.
 

The team at Pentagram created an assets pack containing a typeface, several themed logos, icons, patterns and other illustrated content, all of which were brought to life using After Effects.
