In collaboration with London based studio Spov, we helped Sony Interactive Entertainment in the concept creation of VR UI assets & Tutorials for the PlayStation game Blood & Truth.
As a slowly emerging technology in the gaming industry, designing for VR has proven to be a very interesting challenge.
NAVIGATION CONTROLS
Moving the character in VR is one of the biggest challenges. The solution for the initial phase was in a click & travel fashion. The user sees an action point and selects it to move towards it.
We designed a selection of UI elements representing different actions.

TEXTURING
To fit in with the mood of the game textures were added to the iconography.
Textures were also used to transition the icons depending on the actions triggered, along with the animated textures, the icons also have they're dedicated animation style.

TUTORIALS
To explain to the users how to use the remote and interact within the game a few tutorials run at the start of the game.
The story of the game is also important during this phase, it's where the user is introduced to the character's past.
By using the same textural treatments, the tutorials take the shape of a military manual.
