A-X-L

FUI DESIGN & ANIMATION

A-X-L REEL COMING SOON!

Creative Direction: Andrew Popplestone, Nils Kloth
Producers: Sam Hart, Jasmine Hall

Studio: Territory Studio

Directed by Oliver Daly, this is a feature film about an AI robotic dog unit designed for Attack, Exploration and Logistics.
In collaboration with Territory Studio, a total of 70 shots and three projects were developed. We designed and animated a unique POV style for AXL's vision that evolves overtime as the dog's AI learns while it connects to it's user.

HUD CONCEPTS

The director wanted a HUD that would fit AXL's vision mode. The HUD is meant to evolve as AXL and Miles start bonding and developing their relationship, the AI starts changing the way AXL sees and along with it the UI will also morph to match that.

The vision mode treatment developed by Territory, is stylistically quite noisy and busy and it so proved to be a bit of a challenge to combine it with a UI that still came through and legible enough to provide the POV messages and relevant story-bits the HUD UI would display.

HUD DESIGN CONCEPTS

HUD EVOLUTION 01

When A-X-L meets Miles, his vision mode is set to standard. It's a militarised UI, somewhat cold and a tool-like AI with metric systems, scopes, sensors that help AXL read the environment and track subjects.
